Overview

AGRIRESEARCH Club was born out of a need for a hands-on, research-driven environment for young agricultural minds. Founded in 2018 at the University of Rwanda's College of Agriculture, Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (UR-CAVM), Busogo Campus, the Club has grown into a thriving scientific community that nurtures the next generation of agribusiness leaders, researchers, and innovators.

The Club was founded by Abdu Usanase, who later established AGRIRESEARCH UNGUKA Ltd, where he serves as Founder & CEO. AGRIRESEARCH Club remains a foundational program of AGRIRESEARCH UNGUKA Ltd, carrying forward its commitment to research, mentorship, practical learning, and youth-led agricultural innovation.

The Club provides students and young agricultural professionals with opportunities to develop hands-on skills, participate in research, strengthen professional and soft skills, develop business ideas, and gain exposure to real-world market environments.

Through its activities, AGRIRESEARCH Club bridges the gap between academic learning and practical application, helping young people transform knowledge, skills, and ideas into meaningful professional and entrepreneurial opportunities.

To create a students' scientific community that leverages competence for young professionals in the labor market and sparks innovative, youth-led green agribusiness ventures.

                MISSION

AGRIRESEARCH Club pursues its vision by fostering a research culture, enhancing hands-on skills and experience, providing mentorship and soft skills development, and exposing students to the market environment to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world agribusiness.


Program Objectives

    Founded in 2018 at the University of Rwanda's College of Agriculture, Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (UR-CAVM), Busogo Campus, AGRIRESEARCH Club has continued to evolve as a platform for research, practical learning, mentorship, and youth-led agricultural innovation.

    Key Accomplishments

    2018 — Club Founded

    AGRIRESEARCH Club was established at UR-CAVM, Busogo Campus, creating a hands-on, research-driven community for young agricultural minds.

    2021 — First Club of the Year Recognition

    AGRIRESEARCH Club was recognized as Best Club of the Year at UR-CAVM, Busogo Campus.

    2022 — Continued Excellence

    The Club retained its Best Club of the Year recognition, demonstrating continued student engagement and achievement.

    2023 — Triple Crown

    AGRIRESEARCH Club achieved the Best Club of the Year recognition for the third consecutive year, completing its 2021–2023 triple-crown achievement.

    2023–Present — Agribusiness & Entrepreneurship Development

    The Club expanded its focus on business idea development, coaching, mentorship, practical learning, and exposure to agricultural markets.

    Present — Growing Alumni & Innovation Community

    The Club has developed an alumni network of more than 600 graduates, while continuing to nurture young researchers, entrepreneurs, and agricultural innovators.

    Progress Updates

    Ongoing

    AGRIRESEARCH Club continues to operate as a flagship youth and student development program of AGRIRESEARCH UNGUKA Ltd. The Club continues to strengthen its four core areas: research culture, hands-on skills and experience, mentorship and soft skills development, and exposure to the market environment.

    To date, the Club has impacted 600 students, with 252 active members currently engaged. Its alumni network has grown to more than 300 graduates, while 76 students have developed viable business ideas through coaching and mentorship. Five companies with market-ready products have been nurtured from concept to reality through the Club's mentorship and coaching ecosystem.
